On the 15th of October, 2010, myself, other high schoolers and some teachers went to a beach in Sai Kung to do Coastal Cleanup. On arriving at the beach, we seperated into groups of 8, and were given a sheet of paper on a clipboard, some gloves to keep our hands clean, and a few garbage bags. On the paper was a list of items that we might find on the sheet, and we were supposed to tally the number of each of the items we found. My group scoured the beach in hopes of finding some trash to put in our garbage bags :). In the end, we found quite alot of trash, but couldnt compare to those groups who found bits of heavy construction waste!
Nature is so beautiful, but because we're lazy and keep dumping trash everywhere, it's become wasteland overloaded with rubbish. Doing this coastal cleanup allowed me to truly understand how we've been so harmful to environment, and it also taught me that we can make a difference and turn around what we've done to our earth.
